The overall purpose of Instructional Computing is
twofold: not only to manage the tangible, technological
resources within the computer labs, but also to educate and
empower individuals through the strategic use of this
technology.
The Instructional Computing
department of Greenville Technical College is comprised of a
group of men and women dedicated to providing an environment
conducive to learning and to promote the growth and development
of the skill sets necessary to achieve computer competency, not
just computer literacy. Instructional Computing's Learning
Managers are always on hand to offer adequate, courteous
assistance meant to empower users, stimulate learning, and
decrease computer anxiety.
Each computer lab is open to
all current students, faculty and staff. The open labs offer
modern, convenient learning environments and feature technology
at a level compatible with the needs of the users, the necessary
resources to promote and facilitate learning, technical support
for projects, and a forum that encourages technological
confidence. With the
recent implementation of Greenville Tech's
CampusCruiser system, Instructional Computing has made
broader strides in student service, offering assistance with
both the CampusCruiser and associated Web Advisor
systems. These systems offer student email, self-registration
options, and a number of other interactive avenues for student
use.
