Math Requirement for Land Surveying Courses

 

College Placement test will determine what starting math course the student is best suited for. The Geomatics Technology Degree requires the following math sequence.

 

Mat 110 – College Algebra – 3 credit hours

Mat 111 – College Trig         - 3 credit hours

Or Mat 112 – Pre-Calculus – 5 credit hours

 

And one of the following:

Mat 120 – Probability & Statistics – 3 credit hours

Mat 130 – Elementary Calculus       -  3 credit hours

Mat 140 – Analytical Geometry and Calculus I – 3 credit hours

 

 

Development Math Courses:

 

Math placement test may require students to take one or more of the following developmental math courses before enrolling in Mat 110:

 

Mat 032 – Development Mat – 3 hours – no credit

Mat 101 – Beginning Algebra – 3 credit hours

Mat 102 – Intermediate Algebra – 3 credit hours

 

Mat 101 or 102 may be used as a substitute for the required Math/physics/chemistry elective in the program.

 

Students who are not advancing in the math sequence will not be allowed to continue enrollment in surveying courses until adequate progress is obtained.
