Computing the Median of a Dataset
Example: Find the median of the population data listed in the table below.

Press
STAT and select 1: Edit. Clear L1 and enter the homerun data from above into L1.
Press STAT again and highlight CALC to view the Calc Menu. Select 1:1 Var Stats
and press 2nd
ENTER.
Notice the down arrow in the bottom left corner of the screen. This indicates
that more information follows this first page. Use the blue down arrow to scroll
through this information. The third item you see on the second page is the
median, Med = 182.
(Note: It is not necessary to put the data in ascending order when calculation a median using the TI-83.)
